Mental Health
Kannangara Thomson represents clients who have been admitted to hospital under the Mental Health (Compulsory Treatment and Assessment) Act 1992 or are subject to a Compulsory Treatment Order under the Act. This often involves appearing at hearings before a Family Court Judge. The hearing may be for the Family Court Judge to review the client’s condition to determine whether he/she is fit to be released from compulsory status or to examine a client to determine whether a Compulsory Treatment Order ought to be made. If a person is subject to the Act they may apply for review to the Mental Health Review Tribunal. Mike Timings represents clients who appear before this Tribunal.
